Brief account of the military service of James Bowman, a Madison, Wis. native, who served with Company E of the Twelfth Wisconsin Infantry during the Civil War. The account includes his hospital stay and his unit's marches. Also included are two discharge certificates and a carte de visite of Bowman in a frock coat with a veteran stripe.
